About the role
As an Interior Designer Intern, you will work alongside our designers and project team on live residential and commercial projects. The internship is built around real deliverables: drawings that go to site, material selections that clients sign off, and site visits where you see how details are actually built.
Because Civil & Interior Co handles both design and execution, you will see the full chain, from space planning and 3D views to BOQs, vendor coordination and handover. It is a practical introduction to how interior projects are delivered, not a desk-only role.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with space planning, furniture layouts and zoning options for residential and commercial projects.
- Prepare and update 2D drawings, including plans, elevations, sections and joinery details, under the guidance of senior designers.
- Build 3D models and presentation views for client discussions.
- Research materials, finishes, hardware and lighting, and help prepare mood and material boards.
- Support the preparation of drawing sets, material schedules and bills of quantities (BOQs).
- Join site visits to take measurements, record progress and check work against drawings.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for samples, catalogues and specifications.
- Keep project files, drawing registers and revisions organised.
Required skills
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
- Ability to model in SketchUp or a similar 3D tool.
- Understanding of space planning, ergonomics and standard furniture dimensions.
- Awareness of common interior materials such as laminates, veneers, tiles, stone, paints and hardware.
- Clear communication and a willingness to take feedback on your work.
- Comfort with site visits and taking accurate measurements.
Experience
Freshers are welcome. College projects, a previous internship or live project work are useful but not required.
Education
Pursuing or recently completed a degree or diploma in Interior Design, Interior Architecture or a related design discipline.
Good to have
- Rendering experience with V-Ray, Enscape, Lumion or a similar tool.
- Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop or InDesign for presentation boards.
- Exposure to BOQ preparation or basic estimation.
- A portfolio that shows your drawings, not just renders.
